In 2007, NorTerra diversified into the industrial supply sector, with the acquisition of Independent Industrial Supply of north central British Columbia; Northern Industrial Sales of western British Columbia and the Northern Metalic Sales branches located in the Northwest Territories and Yukon. These branches merged and now operate as Northern Industrial Sales (NIS), the largest provider of industrial supplies north of 60.

NIS is committed to serving its customers, who are primarily in the mining, forestry, oil and gas, industrial, government and community business sectors. As a result of its increased scale, NIS is better positioned to enhance service to customers and partners by gaining benefits associated with higher volume purchasing. From north to south, NIS has branches in Inuvik, Yellowknife, Whitehorse, Watson Lake Terrace, Dawson City, Chetwynd, Prince George, Quesnel, Edmonton and Fort McKay.
